Required skills and experience:

Practical experience and knowledge in Highway Maintenance, including Winter Maintenance and Street Lighting.
NVQ / ONC / BTEC or extensive experience in the field of Highway Maintenance.
Working knowledge of Health and Safety issues including traffic management and CDM requirements.
Effective communicator on paper and in person.
Comprehension of best practise regarding Highway Maintenance.
Good organisational skills.
Computer Literate.
Clean driving license.

Our client is a legislative body which is committed to improving the quality of life in Bedford. This role shall involve leading and managing the Highway Operations Hubby delivering customer focused services with regards to Winter Maintenance, Highway Maintenance and Street Lighting. You will supervise workforce planning, permitting and scheduling; ensure services are high quality; maintain customer satisfaction; deliver services at an economic rate which represents the best value; ensure Health & Safety procedures are applied; manage the daily activities of the Coordinator, Pre-site Technician, Schedular and the Permitting & Technical Officers. You will perform at Duty Manager and ensure that business continuity and contingency plans are settled to ameliorate unforeseen situations affecting the Hub.

This is a 3 year Contract position working 37 hours per week working in Bedford. The salary for this position will be discussed upon application.
