Sheltered Housing Officer
A client of ours in Swindon is looking for aSheltered Housing Officer to join them for a period of 4 months who will be required when on duty to:-
1 Provide a morning welfare call to residents who have requested it. Provide a weekly Intercom call to all properties.
2 Liaise with agencies and families regarding resident’s needs.
3 Create and update as required, records relating to residents medical conditions, personal details, incidents etc.
4 Create and update as required, scheme records relating to building maintenance, Inventory, Log sheets etc
5 Ensure daily that the scheme is safe from hazards and report any issues to scheme Supervisor. Complete Accident / Incident sheets as required.
6 Check daily email account for scheme and reply promptly to any messages
7 Answer telephone calls and deal with any issues that arise
8 Attend Immediately, any emergency alarm, and take appropriate action (including night time response)
9 Follow lone-working procedure via Central Control Room.
10 Report communal repairs and repairs on behalf of residents as required and record accordingly.
11 Oversee contractors working on site ensuring safe working practices are adhered to and appropriate records kept.
12 Follow fire safety regulations. Test fire alarm system weekly. Ensure that all fire documentation is accurate and up to date. Complete 6 monthly fire drill and assist with scheme fire risk assessment and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue inspections.
13 Conduct weekly legionella inspection and document accordingly
14 Complete monthly site tests – emergency alarm system, meter readings, fire doors etc
15 Be responsible for all administration of bookings & payments for the guest flat
16 Ensure all cleaning including the laundry is complete
17 Supervise site cleaner. Complete their 1-2-1s and appraisals.
18 Ensure COSHH regulations are adhered to and cleaning store is stocked and safely stored.
19 Complete essential cleaning as required
20 Complete seasonal pathway clearance
21 Strive to provide friendly and emotional support to residents
22 Encourage and assist, social and group activities within the scheme.
23 Strive to create a good relationship with residents and assist in the development of a harmonious communal atmosphere.
24 Complete a thorough and welcoming induction to all new residents. Show applicants around the scheme and vacant property.
25 Complete support plan records in line with Supporting People requirements.
Knowledge & Experience:
* 2 years’ experience of working in a supported housing environment or other compensatory experience.
* Good standard of literacy and numeracy skills
* Experience of dealing with older people or residents with special needs. Clerical experience / accurate reporting and documentation
* Ability to communicate with other services and outside agencies i.e. GP’s and Social Services
* Strong commitment to the ethos and principles of equal opportunities and the ability to apply that to everyday practice
* Moderate knowledge of IT Systems.
