I am looking for a Project Manager for a 3 month contract (with the chance of extension) to be based in central London. This role is paying £350 a day via umbrella. The role is inside ir35.

To ensure that both the Architecture and Visual Art Venice Biennale exhibitions, associated press and marketing campaigns as well as the Venice Fellowships Programme are delivered to the highest possible standard, within budget and to schedule. Working with colleagues throughout the British Council and external partners, the Senior Project Manager Venice is responsible for ensuring that the programme cost effective, impactful and reaches the widest possible audience.

Experience:

* Good, knowledge of contemporary British art and architecture
* Evidence of the ability to make critical judgements and difficult decisions to ensure project success.
* A proven track record of project managing large scale complex projects and exhibitions involving a variety of stakeholders. Experience of reporting to project boards and/ or steering groups.
* Proven exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills
* Experience of managing large teams in a complex matrix including formal line management

Main opportunities/challenges for this role:

* Ensuring the work of the Venice team aligns to the Corporate Plan and Arts Vision, and the projects run smoothly and to plan, working alongside Director Exhibitions and Director Architecture, Design and Fashion to achieve this.
* Responsible for ensuring that the Venice Project team is briefed effectively regarding key deliverables and that they are efficiently managed to ensure smooth planning and delivery, especially in the areas of project structure, relationship management, budget tracking, project reporting, risk management, mitigation, issue escalation, and project evaluation.
* Identify potential areas for cost savings through long term contracts and partnerships and ensure that clear processes are in place to deliver all aspects of exhibitions and building management finding efficient working models that are compliant.
* Ensuring that the British Council’s activity in Venice represents the full breadth and diversity of the UK art and architecture sector, and that opportunities to improve access, visibility, profile and reach are fully explored.

Desirable:

* Experience with working in an international context or with different cultures.
* Experience of working with artists and/ or architects
* Experience of working with commercial galleries and architectural practices
* Experience of building management and legal compliance in relation to health and safety.

Essential Criterias:

* Official project management qualification, such as Prince 2 or equivalent
