Legal Assistant- Chichester- 3 month contract- £25 to £30 ph umbrella

Our client are a large public sector organisation currently looking for an experienced Legal assistant with advocacy experience.

Job Duties;
-To provide an efficient and effective legal service to a range of different clients with supervision to a high standard to include managing the progress of a matter and ensuring deadlines are met. E.g. drafting advice, drafting agreements.
-To handle a full caseload and manage priorities and tasks with supervision. E.g. standard licences or contracts, debt action, civil claims.
-To produce accurate and timely documents using the Case Management System and other appropriate IT systems using a working knowledge of the relevant legal forms and procedures and to produce such work urgently when required.
-Ability to interpret complex information in order to research legal background and gather and analyse evidence e.g. in order to research detailed legal background to a complicated legal agreement such as tailor made clauses.
-To analyse and interpret complex information, providing basic legal advice and taking responsibility for all the technical and legal requirements of a matter with guidance as necessary from the Team Leader.
-To complete routine correspondence and file notes, checking reports and statements. -To draft technical letters, reports and legal documents with guidance as necessary.
-To liaise with client departments, court officers, solicitors, barristers and other local authorities as appropriate.
-To attend Court, as required, to assist the advocate or cover routine matters.
-Responsible for enforcing regulations by initiating criminal or civil proceedings e.g. the prosecution of trading standards offences.
-Responsible for processing cheques, invoices or other financial documents in order to deal with payment of settlements.
-The job involves some direct responsibility for handling and processing legal information where care, accuracy and confidentiality are important.
-The work may involve demonstration of own duties, or advice or guidance to new employees, or others.
-Remain up to date and compliant with all relevant organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct in order to uphold standards of best practice.

To be considered you will have;
-A level qualifications or equivalent demonstrating high level of numeracy and literacy
-Demonstrable experience of working in an office environment, producing high quality documents and meeting deadlines is desirable
-Working towards ILEX qualification or willing to begin working towards the qualification
-Good working knowledge of IT systems/procedures
