Construction SHE Advisor
A client of ours in Mansfield in looking for a Construction SHE Advisor to join their team, you will play a key role in a team responsible for protecting and maintaining health, safety, wellbeing and environmental issues to staff and the public, as well as fulfilling obligations in relation to national construction and civil engineering projects.
You’ll have:
-NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
-Membership of IOSH minimum Technical grade
-An ongoing commitment to a ‘Continuing Professional Development’ programme
-Significant experience of assisting the role of Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations or previously as a CDM co-ordinator
-In depth knowledge of construction Safety, Health, Welfare and Environmental legislation
-Sufficient knowledge and experience of engineering and design processes to enable identification of health and safety risks and suitable control measures
-Ability to manage a diverse workload and ensure work is completed on time
-Highly developed communication skills and experience with Audit/Site Inspections and Behavioural Discussions
-Ability to be self-sufficient where required and work as part of a team and attend regular field visits involving overnight stays
-Able to undertake site audits and accident/incident investigations
Your key responsibilities will be to:
-Undertaking Project SHE Reviews prior to the commencement of a project
-Ensure that projects are notified to HSE as required (F10)
-Attending design review meetings and working closely with design engineers, project managers and contractors
-Provide pre-construction information to the principal contractor/contractor or where not directly involved in a project, advise others on its suitability and completeness to meet legal requirements
-Attending pre-start and progress meetings, providing advice and guidance
-Ensuring that prior to commencement of construction work on a project that a suitable construction phase plan is in place or advise others on its suitability
-Prepare of the health and safety file for each project and pass it to the appropriate person or provide advice to others preparing one
-Attending hand-over meetings to ensure projects are completed and passed over in an efficient and effective manner
-Undertake site visits, SHE inspections and desktop audits to monitor compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation and best practice industry standards
-Where standards are unacceptable, advise the project manager/engineer to stop works on site and advise all parties on steps required to enable them to recommence
-Where there is a material breach of health and safety law, standards pose a significant risk to health, safety and welfare or other appropriate reasons, stop works on site and advise all parties on steps required to enable them to recommence
-Provide advice to project teams on action required where projects do not meet the standards
-Being an exemplar in safety, health and environmental management and promoting a positive culture within the business
-To liaise with external bodies e.g. HSE/BEIS/DEFRA/EA when required whilst maintaining corporate confidentiality/integrity etc.
