Communications and Engagement Officer (Covid-19 Local Outbreak Management Plan) – Bath – 3 Month Contract – £18ph Umbrella (Inside IR35)

The purpose of this role is to ensure that residents, businesses, schools, partners, and other key stakeholders are as aware as possible of the organisations Outbreak Management Plan and NHS test and trace arrangements as they apply locally, and to use the communications channels at the organisations disposal to ensure Plan delivery.

This means providing support through all the phases of outbreak planning, including:

* Communications and engagement to deliver preventative messages particularly relating to social distancing and other key messages to continue to suppress of potential outbreaks
* Ensuring full awareness of what we would need to do in our area if local lockdown arrangements should be required
* Making detailed preparations for any communications that will be required for local lockdowns
* In the case of any local lockdown arrangements being required, work to enact the communications aspects of those arrangements swiftly and in compliance with agreed procedures

Principle Accountabilities:

Research, plan, write and distribute relevant content including social media, newsletters, blogs, videos, graphics, paid-for advertising (including radio and social media) and other posts to ensure:

1 The key messages in the Local Outbreak Management Plan receive the highest possible profile
2 That our priorities and calls for action known and understood

Work with the organisations Corporate Communications Manager and others:

1 To ensure that posts and activities are coordinated with the organisations corporate plans, vision and priorities
2 To maximise the use of social media/blog/webinar/hybrid/newsletter/mail/community channels, including any paid-for advertising
3 To understand, disseminate and meet deadlines for all media, including parish and community newsletters
4 To convey the organisations key messages as effectively and clearly as possible and to make available in accessible formats

Prepare high-quality messaging and materials to raise awareness of the Plan, its protocols and approach both in advance of any lockdown, during any implementations and to promote national and local campaigns.

To be suitable for this opportunity; the following qualifications or experience is required:

* Substantial Communications/Marketing/Design experience
* Experience of supporting a range of media communications
* Strong influencing and negotiating skills
* Experience of working with a wide range of people and able to communicate well at both an operational and professional level
* Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and an ability to manipulate data in excel to produce relevant management information
* Knowledge and experience of local government, community or health settings (desirable)
